Kim Thayil is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the Seattle-based rock band Soundgarden. Born on September 4, 1960, he is recognized for his distinctive guitar work, which contributed significantly to the grunge genre. Thayil has won two Grammy Awards as a member of Soundgarden and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2025.
