Lake Como, also known as Lario, is a large glacial lake in Lombardy, northern Italy, situated about 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Milan. It is the third-largest lake in Italy by surface area and one of the deepest in Europe, reaching over 400 meters (1,300 feet) in depth. The lake is famous for its distinctive inverted "Y" shape, dramatic mountainous surroundings, and the numerous picturesque towns and historic villas along its shores.
