Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. Pioneers of the grunge movement, they achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with their distinctive heavy sound and Chris Cornell's powerful vocals. The band disbanded in 1997, reunited in 2010, and effectively ceased activity after Cornell's death in 2017.
