The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre, commonly known as the Tony Award, recognizes excellence in live Broadway theatre. The awards are presented annually by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at a ceremony in Manhattan, usually in June. Established in 1947, they are named after Antoinette "Tony" Perry, an actress, producer, and co-founder of the American Theatre Wing.
