"In Waves" is an animated drama film directed by Phuong Mai Nguyen, based on AJ Dungo's autobiographical graphic novel. It tells the poignant love story of a skateboarder and a surfer whose relationship is tested by illness, interwoven with the history of surfing. The film made history as the first animated feature to open Cannes Critics' Week in 2026.
