The K-1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows a foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a United States citizen to enter the U.S.. The visa requires the foreign fiancé(e) to marry their U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival in the United States. After the marriage, the foreign citizen can apply for adjustment of status to become a lawful permanent resident, also known as a Green Card holder.
