The Motorola SCR-300 was a portable, backpack-mounted frequency-modulated (FM) radio transceiver developed for the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. Widely recognized as the first device to be nicknamed a "walkie-talkie," it enabled reliable short-range voice communications for infantry units. Designed by Motorola's Galvin Manufacturing Company, approximately 50,000 units were produced during the war.
